February Updates: Tune Into Your Heart—With Us!

Hi Friends,

As we work through the last half of winter, we invite you to continue to embrace the energy of hibernation as long as it feels right for you. And, with all the rain in Northern California this weekend, it may feel easier to take it slow and go inward.

This weekend marks the midway point between winter solstice and spring equinox—which is observed with many traditions, including Imbolc, Candlemas, and Groundhog Day, just to name a few. All of these observations bring awareness to the coming spring, the reawakening of life, and the darkness that still envelops the season.

In short, it’s the perfect time to begin thinking about what you’d like to plant and harvest in your life this year while still staying cozy in a space of relative inaction. You get to be the seed beneath the soil for a little while longer, so why not take the time to get comfy and nurture yourself?

Our favorite traditions for this midway point include: lighting candles to call in the light of spring in winter’s waning darkness, taking time for purification and letting go, and preparing hearty winter meals. In fact, one feast of Imbolc is called the feast of the waxing light—how cool is that? Water is also celebrated this time of year, as it returns life to the earth with the rain and snow. Accordingly, purification rituals with water can be extra potent.

While many of us are familiar with solstice and equinox, seeing nature’s cycles in 6-week patterns can open up even more opportunities for awareness and reflection—each equinox and solstice has this 6-week midpoint that we’re excited to be more intentional about observing together this year. As such, we invite you to join us, beginning with this weekend—how can you pause and make the most of this winter moment while also anticipating spring’s approach?
