November Updates: RSVP For Our Lantern Walk & Zoom Gratitude Journey!

Hello Friends,

As the darkness returns and we gear up for the holiday months ahead, now is the perfect time to slow down, connect with the light, and spend restorative time together in community.

We’d like to invite you to two offerings we’re excited about for November:

Lantern Walk, Saturday, November 8, 2:30-5PM: As we welcome in the darker months, we also get to be the light! Join us at the Argonaut in Coloma to decorate a lantern before we walk through the park together. This is a fun family-friendly gathering that connects us to the rhythms of nature and each other. We’ll grab warm drinks at the Argonaut at 2:30 before they close and then begin decorating our lanterns at 3PM. Cost is $11/person and includes lantern materials (drinks at the Argonaut are separate). Please RSVP by Sunday, 11/2 so we have time to gather enough materials.

November Gratitude Journey, Sundays, 7:30-8:30PM, Zoom: Join Olivia for a thankfulness journey on Zoom—combining short meditation, journaling, & somatic work to deeply embody the elevated emotion of gratitude. When we’re truly in the energy of gratitude, everything in life flows with greater joy and ease. The body also responds to the energy of thankfulness with measurable physiological shifts. Reach out to sign up—this is a free community offering but a donation to your favorite charity is highly encouraged in exchange.

And, in case you need a little more inspiration to focus on gratitude this month…

Gratitude isn’t just a mindset—when you feel genuine appreciation, your body moves from stress into rest and regulation:

🧠 In the Brain:
Gratitude activates your brain’s reward system, boosting dopamine, serotonin, and oxytocin — chemicals of joy, connection, and calm. It quiets the amygdala (stress center) and strengthens the prefrontal cortex, helping you regulate emotions and see life through a wider lens.

❤️ In the Nervous System:
Feeling gratitude moves you from fight-or-flight into rest-and-digest, increasing heart rate variability (HRV) — a marker of emotional resilience. Your breath and heartbeat begin to synchronize, creating a state of “heart coherence,” where the body and mind communicate harmoniously.

🩸 In the Hormones & Immune System:
Cortisol levels drop while DHEA — a vitality hormone — rises. Gratitude also strengthens immune defenses by increasing immunoglobulin A, your body’s first line of protection.

🪶 In the Body:
Muscles soften, breathing deepens, and the heart space often feels warm or expansive. It’s your body’s way of saying, “I’m safe. I can receive.”

Over time, consistent gratitude practice improves sleep, supports heart health, enhances relationships, and rewires your baseline toward contentment.

Wishing you a month of deep gratitude,

Olivia & Carlie
